Three Webtoon-Based Short Dramas Premiere on Lezhin Snack In September
Lezhin Entertainment’s short-form drama platform, Lezhin Snack, has unveiled its September lineup, once again set to win over viewers with a wide range of genres and distinctive subject matter. Since its launch, Lezhin Snack has continued to strengthen its position as a short-form drama platform by consistently delivering polished content across diverse genres, and this September is no exception, with a lineup full of IP-based titles each carrying its own distinct charm.
“An Innocent Sin”
Based on the webtoon of the same name by writer Oh Gye, “An Innocent Sin” is an intense romance between Nayeon, who’s been secretly indulging in a thrilling escape from her dull office routine, and Noah, a mysterious man who draws her into the secret club “Peach Puff.” One day, Noah hands her a business card for the club. Curious, Nayeon follows it and discovers a world beyond anything she’d imagined, along with desires she never knew she had. As Noah’s own hidden secrets begin to surface, viewers are left wondering where this dangerous relationship will lead.
The series is directed by Kobe, known for capturing subtle shifts in relationships in the web drama “Love Playlist” and the short-form drama “How Close Are We.” Park Hyun takes on the role of Noah, once again delivering a compelling character after standout turns in the Lezhin Snack Originals “Sadistic Beauty” and “The Poor Couple in the Billionaire’s Mansion,” a winning title from the short-form drama survival show “Director’s Arena.” Lee Ina, making her acting debut in “An Innocent Sin,” brings Nayeon’s awakening to life with striking immersion. Son Somang, known for “Marry You,” “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract,” and “Not Others,” plays Habin, Noah’s older sister and the operator of “Peach Puff,” steering the story toward its climax.
“An Innocent Sin,” where a dangerous relationship is born in a space built on pleasure, will be fully available on Lezhin Snack starting Thursday, September 3, at 5 PM (KST).
“Psychic Gambler: Betting Man”
“Psychic Gambler: Betting Man,” the popular Lezhin Comics webtoon by writer Doldom and illustrator Yang Geng, has racked up over 5 million cumulative views and won praise from readers for its fast pace and intense psychological battles.
Now it comes to life as a Lezhin Snack Original short-form drama. “Psychic Gambler: Betting Man” follows Jingu, a man with the ability to see through objects, as he enters a high-stakes game to take revenge on Inju, the psychic who once pushed him to rock bottom. Unpredictable games and fierce psychological warfare, as each side tries to read the other’s true intentions, keep the tension high in every episode, while the teamwork between Jingu and his allies, veteran gambler Chansu and the quick-witted Hana, adds to the fun.
The series is directed by rising director Lee Saetbyul, known for writing the screenplay of the Lezhin Snack Original short-form drama “Painter of the Night.” Actor Jung Junhwan plays Jingu, bringing his growth from novice to formidable rival to life. Actor Ko Doha plays the psychic Inju while actor Kim Younghoon plays Chansu, who recognizes Jingu’s ability and joins forces with him. Actor Choi Haseul plays Hana, whose liveliness lightens the drama’s mood. Nayoung, Jingu’s first love and a key figure in the story, rounds out the cast.
“Psychic Gambler: Betting Man,” a nail-biting supernatural gambling action series, will be fully available on Lezhin Snack starting Thursday, September 10, at 5 PM (KST).
“My Father’s Table”
Director Lee Junik’s first short-form drama, “My Father’s Table,” has confirmed its September release, drawing attention from the moment filming began. The series first won an enthusiastic response at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.
Based on the webtoon of the same name by writer Gorita, “My Father’s Table” is a family drama about Haeung, a father who has never once set foot in the kitchen, and his struggle to cook for the first time in his life after his wife Sunae is struck with a condition that leaves her unable to cook. Director Lee Junik, known for the richly layered storytelling of “The Book of Fish,” “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet,” and “The King and the Clown,” keeps the warmth of the original while adding new depth to the story and characters.
Actor Jung Jinyoung (“Mother and Mom”, “Chief of Staff”) plays Haeung, the tyrant of the dinner table who has ruled the household for 40 years. Having long supported the family as a shoe repairman, Haeung picks up a kitchen knife for the first time, and Jung captures his inner change with real depth. Actor Lee Jungeun (“Parasite”, “Daily Dose of Sunshine”) plays his wife Sunae, vividly portraying her sudden, bewildering change after losing the ability to cook. Actor Byun Yohan (“Mr. Sunshine”, “Black Out”) plays their eldest son Myeongbok, realistically depicting his efforts to hold the family together, adding authenticity to the drama.
“My Father’s Table” will also make history as the first short-form drama to screen in theaters, opening exclusively at Lotte Cinema in Korea on September 9. By bringing a format usually watched on mobile to the big screen, it offers a fresh viewing experience.
It will be fully available on Lezhin Snack after its theatrical run, with Part 1 releasing Thursday, September 17, and Part 2 releasing Thursday, September 24, both at 5 PM (KST).
